Presentation: Hazardous Occupancies - You're Going to Do What!?

Description: By their very nature, hazardous occupancies are dangerous and warrant additional scrutiny from a fire/life safety engineering, design, and enforcement perspective. This presentation will discuss the methodologies for which to determine if an occupancy is to be considered hazardous in conjunction with reviewing maximum allowable quantities as defined by the IBC and IFC. In addition, the role of a hazardous material inventory statement (HMIS) and the use of building control areas will be outlined. The presentation will focus on the implementation of ancillary suppression and detection systems often utilized by H-occupancies, while also discussing common sense approaches and sequence of operations to best protect common H-occupancy applications.
