The Rocky Mountain Chapter was formed by a few dedicated people in October, 1983, and became a recognized Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) on October 22, 1984.  The Chapter membership consists of people from many diverse careers in the field of fire protection lifesafety engineering.  The Chapter thrives on the participation and dedication of all members and guests.

The Chapter holds meetings monthly throughout the year, except during the months of June, July, and August.  The meetings are usually business-meeting luncheons, with one or two social events held in the evenings.  At each of the meetings there is a guest speaker who will provide a focus on new and changing developments that affect fire protection.

Also the Chapter distributes relevant articles, upcoming events, job postings, and bits of information covering the latest happenings in the world of Fire Protection Engineering.  This information is distributed by the Chapter Secretary.  To add yourself to the email distribution list, or to share something with the membership, please send an email to the Chapter Secretary.  Information shared with the membership should be relevant to the profession and appropriate for distribution to the membership.  Any distribution via the Chapter is at the sole discretion of the Chapter Board.

SFPE Rocky Mountain Chapter membership is open to all persons interested in the profession of Fire Protection Engineering and its allied fields.  Membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE, our parent organization) is not required in order to join the Rocky Mountain Chapter of SFPE.  Individuals who join as "Chapter Members" must also be members of SFPE, and will be permitted to vote in Chapter affairs (such as the annual Chapter officers' election).  Individuals who join our Chapter as "Chapter Friends" need not be members of SFPE, but are not permitted to vote in Chapter affairs.  Please specify on the application form if you are joining as a Chapter "Member" or "Friend."

Annual Chapter dues are $15 per person for "Chapter Members" and $25 per person for "Chapter Friends."  NOTE: An individual joining SFPE for the first time may be eligible to have his or her annual dues to RMC-SFPE waived by naming RMC-SFPE as their source on the SFPE membership application.  Information on joining SFPE can be found at www.sfpe.org.  On the website, go to the link titled Join SFPE.
