March Meeting: The NEC for FPE's (Virtual Option)

  • This is the rate for SFPE-RMC "Full" and "Chapter" Members to attend this meeting virtually via Zoom.
  • This is the rate for those who are not SFPE-RMC "Full" or "Chapter" Members to attend this meeting virtually via Zoom.
  • This registration is for virtual attendance for pre-paid "Chapter Friends" or "Chapter Members" who prepaid for all meetings with their membership payment for the year.
  • This registration is for virtual attendance for college-aged students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program, who are interested in the profession of Fire Protection Engineering.

Presentation: The NEC for FPE's

Topics to include:

  • When the NEC requires fire rated room separation
  • Instances where NEC prohibit (sprinkler) water pipes from running over certain equipment
  • Instances where NEC requires egress accommodations (doors swinging out, panic hardware)
  • Classified electric equipment (Class I Div 1, C1D2, etc.)
  • Different types of fire alarm cabling and what these abbreviations means (THHN, FPLP, FPLR, CI, etc)

Guest Presenter: Duffy Stroumbos, SET, Weifield Group

Duffy is Weifield Group's Training Director. He has 40 experience years in the industry executing various roles and duties including project management, design, systems integration, consulting, code compliance, and instructor. His qualifications include: 

  • Master Electrician CO/WY/CAL/FL/HI
  • NICET Level IV Fire Alarm Systems
  • Certified: Vocational Instruction Technology
  • Certified: NEC / 70E (Arc Flash) Instructor
  • Adjunct Professor Red Rocks Community College

Some of his notable projects include:

  • DIA - Fire Alarm System
  • Utah Data Center Cyber Security - SCADA / FIRE ALARM

Duffy has 1 wife, 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren, and 2 Weiner dogs. His goals include sky diving, riding a motorcycle to Alaska, and speaking at an SFPE meeting.
