Elevators: Sprinklers and Fire Alarm – Tying It All Together

This presentation will discuss interface of fire sprinklers (NFPA 13), fire alarm (NFPA 72), the International Building Code (IBC) and the elevator requirements from ASTM A17.1.  The presentation will attempt to tie all the requirements together to improve code compliance as it relates to elevators.

SPEAKERJohn McGovern, PE, Encore Electric

John is a registered professional engineer in Colorado and California.  He has been involved in the design and installation of fire alarms in the Denver area for over 20 years.  He has served on the Fire Alarm and Smoke Control Committees for the Denver Amendments and most recently on the Committee for the 2016 Amendments.  In addition to his experience in design and installation, he has conducted fire alarm tests and smoke control for a number of Buildings in Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Kansas City.
